FCOVD stands for Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.
In order to become a Board Certified Fellow, an optometrist needs to have at least 3 years of optometry practice and be in high professional standing. A Fellow must demonstrate advanced competency through at least 1100 hours of experience and continuing education, as well as submission of case reports to be peer-reviewed by a panel of experts, and completion of rigorous oral and written examinations administered by the COVD International Examination and Certification Board. Continued education is required to maintain An FCOVD represents certified knowledge in the areas of vision development, vision therapy, and vision rehabilitation.
