CATARACTS

A cataract is a clouding of the lens inside your eye, which interferes with your vision by causing blurry or hazy vision, the feeling of having a film over the eyes, and increased sensitivity to glare, especially at night. Cataracts are commonly seen in adults over the age of 60, and is a normal age-related change. They are occasionally found in younger people due to injuries, health conditions, or use of certain medications.

At a certain point, vision affected by cataracts cannot be corrected with a change in the glasses prescription. When treatment is warranted, Dr. Lee can refer you to an eye surgeon to remove the cataract and replace it with a clear lens implant. With improved technology, there are many options for implants to consider. Dr. Lee will discuss with you the risks and limitations of the surgery, but overall, it is a very safe and effective procedure. After surgery, Dr. Lee will monitor your healing closely, and a new glasses prescription may be required to maximize near and distance vision.
