Vision Therapy Success

This week, I saw M for a follow up and she gave me this! Love getting these little drawings from patients 😊
M first started coming to us in grade 1 because she was having difficulty with reading and she really disliked it. She kept losing her place, skipping words, and reversing letters. She couldn’t seem to remember any words longer than 3 letters.
After vision therapy, she no longer loses her place or skip words, and has gotten much better at reading! She has even started to enjoy it, and her mom said she picked out some English books to read, even though she only practices in French at school! She was also able to learn to spell tricky words like “friend.”
We’re so proud of how far she has come!!

Therapy for Dizziness

If you’re experiencing visual symptoms after a concussion (eg. problems with focusing or reading, using a computer/device, dizziness etc), call us for a Visual Skills Assessment! (905) 666-4848

Researchers say rehabilitation has also proven effective for mitigating symptoms such as dizziness and changes in vision, like difficulty with focus. This includes engaging in visual and vestibular exercises, which assist with balance and spatial orientation. Therapy can help the brain to establish new neurologic pathways to regain function or to bypass disturbing signals.

Active recovery is the new standard of treatment, but this does NOT mean that athletes should still compete during recovery.

What Causes Poor Reading Skills

August is #VisionandLearningMonth! 1 in 4 school-aged children have a vision problem, and this includes problems that can happen even if they can “see 20/20!” A comprehensive eye exam should be a priority to make sure your students are prepared to do well in school!
Here’s a great video by WOW Vision Therapy that shows how kids can suffer from a vision condition affecting their ability to read and learn, even if they have 20/20 eyesight and “no need for glasses.”
