Vision Therapy Helped With Peripheral Vision

G came to us because she had problems with reading. She often got blurry vision, and occasionally double vision, and had to wear reading glasses. G enjoyed reading, and was a quick reader, but she often lost her place. In addition to reading problems, G had some coordination problems such as imbalance between the left and right side of her body, making some sports difficult. For example, when ice skating, one foot tended to drag behind her and she would also bump into the walls.

After vision therapy, G rarely got blurry vision, and when she did get it, she was able to eliminate it quickly. Since her blurry vision was reduced so much, she didn’t find the need to wear her glasses as often as she did before therapy. G also found she was much better at coordinating her left and right side, and stopped dragging one foot behind in skating. She was also more aware of her surroundings and learned how to use her vision effectively to be aware of the whole ice rink, to avoid bumping into the walls, making skating much easier and more enjoyable. Congratulations G! We will miss you and your love of drawing and knowledge of animal facts.

New year, new GREEN choices!! 🌎 Personally, I always felt very conflicted between the hygiene benefits of daily disposables vs. the increased waste, so I’m very excited to announce that we now participate in a contact lens recycling program through Bausch + Lomb! Collect a bag of your blister packs and the contacts themselves (make sure they’re dry), and come drop it off at our office! The boxes can go through regular paper recycling.

Vision Therapy After Concussion

R came to us because he was involved in a motor vehicle accident, resulting in a concussion. Due to his concussion, he was experiencing many symptoms that affected his daily life. He had frequent headaches and was sensitive to light, he got dizzy very easily and motion sick. He also had problems reading, including losing his place, and got eye strain if he read or was looking at a screen for longer than 30 minutes, which was problematic for him as his career required lengthy screen time and reading. He also was unable to watch TV for a long period of time. When he did read, he had to slowly read each word one at a time, making it time consuming and tiring.

After vision therapy, his dizziness greatly decreased and he his headaches were much less frequent, and very mild if they did occur. He was also able to read or use a computer for 2-3 hours at a time, and could continue beyond that after taking a short break, making it easier to complete his work on a daily basis. He also stopped having motion sickness in a car, making driving easier. Watching TV was much more comfortable, so he could enjoy watching TV with his family. Congratulations R! We are glad you were able to return to your daily activities! We will miss you and your love of sports
